Artist's Statement

In 1998 I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with a degree in Printed Textiles. Early work concentrates on the form of the feather, using it as inspiration and linking with American Indian Themes and rituals. Textile work includes patterns for furnishings and fashion, from geometric and angular designs to free flowing and organic linear forms. Using satin, velvet, cotton and polyester with techniques such as devore and maximising effects with wax and acid dyes complex patterns and one off designs are created for cushions, screens, tie design and menswear. Achievements within the textile industry include placements with Timney Fowler in London and Fabric 8 in Bristol. Designs were exhibited in New York, London, Paris and Milan and designs were sold to clients such as Issey Miyake and Windsmoor/Debenhams.

Current work includes photography and textiles inspired by street art, graffiti and everyday situations within the urban environment. I am also looking into new work using knitting, felting, seed beading, embroidery and papermaking. I make original cards with a textile element using a wide variety of materials and techniques.

I have exhibited widely including shows in New York, Paris, London and Edinburgh. To date I have completed five solo shows and many group exhibitions.
